Brynmill Short Mat Bowling team plays in the Swansea Short Mat Bowls league. We practice and plays our matches at the Brynmill Community Centre on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Short mat bowls is an easy, enjoyable game for all ages and for men and women. It is a version of outdoor bowls and of the ‘long mat’ game you see on television and has similar rules to these. It is usually played in community centres, church halls, social clubs, etc. You do not need any previous experience or particular physical fitness to play it and it is easy for anyone to pick up and enjoy.
Our club has been in existence since a league was first formed in Swansea – around 30 years ago – and we are known as one of the most longstanding and most welcoming of clubs in the area.
As well as playing in the league, competitions are arranged among our own members as well as allowing time for those not wishing to take part in competitions to enjoy informal bowling. We are always happy to welcome new members, so, if you would like to come and see what it is like, please do not hesitate to come on a Tuesday or Thursday evening (7.00-9.00, September to March) or contact the Club Secretary for details.
